The importance of health and safety when wire sawing

Wire sawing is a cutting method which compared with other sawing and cutting options has relatively low health and safety risks.  There is a low noise level associated with wire sawing and because water is used to cool the wire, the dust is kept to a minimum.  There are no fumes to be concerned about when using wire sawing and as it is operated remotely it is non-percussive.  This means it is a safer way to saw for our operatives as well as site employees and contractors working alongside them.

National Drilling Services has always maintained the highest health and safety standards.  Our list of accreditations and certificates acknowledges that we take it very seriously.  The safety of our operatives and those working around them is always a priority on every site we work. See a previous news article to find out more about our accreditations https://www.nationaldrilling.co.uk/choose-accredited-supplier-drilling-sawing-cutting-requirements/

Other benefits of wire sawing

Wire sawing is often used in larger structures where track sawing is not possible.  It is fast and makes deep clean cuts with unlimited depths. As wire sawing has a continuous motion it means this method of cutting is very smooth.  The wire sawing method is so called because it has a multi-stranded cable or ‘wire’ which is fitted with diamond beads.  Using a pulley system these hard beaded wires are remotely pulled through masonry and stonework to create the desired cut.
