National Drilling Services

Why is it called diamond core drilling?

If you work in the construction industry you will probably have heard about diamond core drilling, but do you know why it is described as that?  It is not a trick question, this process is so called because the material at the tip of the drill is made from diamonds.  As many people are aware, diamonds are a very hard substance which means using them on a drill bit enables our operators to cut through very hard materials such as reinforced concrete. This technique is ideal for use on construction sites and is widely used around the UK.

National Drilling Services works at construction sites across the UK

At National Drilling Services our operators are skilled and experienced in using our diamond core drilling equipment.  Once project or construction managers have employed National Drilling Services to provide drilling, cutting, sawing or demolition services, they often request us to work for them again on other construction sites across the regions, all around the UK. We are well known within the UK construction industry and have worked on major projects at key sites such as Manchester Airport and Liverpool One.  However, we are not just confined to the North West, although our head office is in this region, we work all around the British Isles including sites in the Channel Islands, the South East, Wales, East Anglia and Scotland. With a number of offices around the country we are well positioned to serve national and local diamond core drilling requirements.

Cutting through hard materials

As we have already mentioned above, using the diamond core drilling technique allows operators to drill holes through reinforced concrete, hard rock and other masonry structures. This process, whilst creating the openings required on your construction site, does so with only the minimum amount of debris and with only a minor noise level. We can also select which power source to use according to site stipulations, whether the area requiring diamond core drilling is enclosed or not and how accessible power is to the drilling site. You can find out more about the size of holes we can drill and the different power source options on our diamond core drilling webpage.

To discuss your site requirements for diamond core drilling or how National Drilling Services can help you with sawing, cutting or demolition call us on 0161 443 2822.  Alternatively you can email us on info@national-drilling.co.uk.
