Our one stop service means your projects can run smoothly, which is as important to us and our operatives, as it is to your site workers and project managers. Let’s look at the benefits of using National Drilling Services for your wire sawing needs…
What is wire sawing?
First of all, let’s examine what wire sawing involves exactly. The name wire sawing is derived from the cable or ‘wire’ that performs the intrinsic function in the sawing or cutting process. In fact, the ‘wire’ involved in this method of sawing is actually multi stranded. This multi stranded cable is also fitted with small diamond beads, which being a very hard material means they will cut through even the hardest materials. The cutting or sawing occurs when the cable or wire, which is threaded through a series of pulleys, is pulled continuously through the concrete or masonry where the cut needs to be made.
What about friction with wire sawing?
You may be concerned that the wire may quickly become hot as a result of the friction when this wire sawing method is employed. You would be right, friction does occur and the cable or wire would get hot, however we use water to cool the wire to ensure it doesn’t over heat. The other advantage of using water to cool the wire, is that is also helps to keep the dust down.
How deep can you cut using wire sawing?
The other good news about wire sawing, is that you can cut to virtually any level, creating cuts to unlimited depths. It is a fast and efficient method of cutting, helping to keep your project on schedule.
Wire sawing is a safe method of cutting
Our operatives also appreciate the benefits of wire sawing, as will other site workers who are working near to the cutting site. Wire sawing has relatively low noise levels. It is a method of sawing which generates no fumes, so it is a safe process. As our wire sawing equipment is operated via remote control this has further health and safety benefits. Firstly, it means that this is a non-percussive method of sawing and secondly with remote operation the operator can stand away from the cutting area reducing the risk of being hit by any falling debris.
